HI! I’m Ellen and this is Maxie. Welcome to Tails from the Trail!
I’ve had so many people ask about my hikes and I love to share the details so that they – and now you – can do it too!
Southeast Wisconsin is chock full of parks! My town, Whitefish Bay and Milwaukee are located right on Lake Michigan. I gravitate towards parks by the lake because it is just so vast and looks different every time I see it.
The IAT is 1 of 11 National Scenic Trails in the whole country, making Wisconsin proud. You may be wondering why it’s called the Ice Age Trail…well, over 12,000 years ago, Wisconsin was covered in a huge glacier flow.
The trail kicked off by going under a picturesque covered bridge that crosses a stream. This segment is part of the Walla Hi County Park which includes a horse trail and other looping hiking paths.
